TBILISI, September 1 (Itar-Tass) - Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili called Russia’s ban on imports of Georgian-produced wines the actual declaration of an economic war on Georgia.

“Initiators of making such decisions are seeking to weaken Georgia, cause serious difficulties in the country,” Saakashvili said at his meeting with chiefs of agricultural companies in eastern Georgia on Thursday.

He called for countering the ban by “orderliness in resolving and overcoming the existing difficulties”.

The government “will do everything to help peasants in grape gathering, it will provide them with free tractors and help solving organisational and technical matters, render assistance to private banks in crediting private distilleries for their reception of the crop”, Saakashvili said…
